Roussanne is one of the least known white grape varieties in the Languedoc: originally from the Drôme, it thrives on poor clay-limestone soils that push it to yield little but very well. Les Jamelles took a chance on this late-ripening, demanding variety to enrich its Les Découvertes range, offering curious wine lovers a white of uncommon finesse for the region. The IGP Pays d'Oc vines enjoy a microclimate that helps preserve the delicate aromas of this grape. The colour is pale yellow with golden highlights. The nose is discreet but distinguished: white flowers (acacia, jasmine), a hint of acacia honey and a light herbaceous touch. On the palate the texture is round and creamy, carried by fine acidity, and the finish reveals an attractive, elegant bitterness of aromatic herbs. Pair it with fish in a creamy sauce, scallops or an aged Comté. Serve at 10-11 °C.
