Domaine Jacques Dury – The finesse of Rully's terroirs as a legacy

Domain name

Jacques Dury Estate

Wine region

Côte Chalonnaise – Burgundy

Appellations and terroirs

Located south of the Côte Chalonnaise, Domaine Jacques Dury is primarily situated in Rully, on east-facing slopes with soils rich in limestone and marl. A portion of the vineyards also extends into Mercurey. The diverse geology and slightly cooler climate compared to the Côte d'Or result in structured, aromatic wines with a pronounced minerality. Vineyards such as Meix Cadot, La Chaume, and Marissou are among the most emblematic.

Emblematic grape varieties

Chardonnay – Pinot Noir

Philosophy and History

The estate was founded in 1955 by Henri Dury, initially focused on mixed farming. His son Jacques quickly decided to dedicate himself solely to viticulture, laying the foundations of the winery. Today, Hervé Dury and his son Rémi represent the third and fourth generations. Rémi, passionate about wine since childhood and trained in Beaune, was awarded the "Young Talent of the Côte Chalonnaise" prize in 2023. Their family cellar preserves the memory of four generations, united by the same passion for wine and the terroir.

Production specifics

The estate comprises 16 hectares, approximately 15 of which are in Rully. Sustainable farming practices are employed, the soils are worked without herbicides, and the harvest is done by hand. Vinification is carried out plot by plot. The white wines are slowly pressed, fermented naturally in vats or old barrels, and then aged on their fine lees for about 12 months. The red wines are destemmed, undergo cold maceration, and then fermented with gentle punch-downs before aging in barrels, in a style that respects the fruit.

Recognitions

The estate is recognized locally and internationally for the consistent quality of its wines. Rémi Dury received the "Young Winemaker of the Year – Côte Chalonnaise 2023" award. Wines such as the "Rully 1er Cru Marissou 2017," "Meix Cadot," and "Burgondia d'Or 2008" are among its benchmarks. The estate is appreciated for the elegance and purity of its wines, which receive positive reviews from professionals and specialized platforms.

A subtle blend of time-honored expertise and a fresh perspective, Domaine Jacques Dury represents a distinctive signature of the Côte Chalonnaise. Each vintage embodies Burgundian authenticity, with a mineral elegance and aromatic finesse that captivate discerning wine lovers.
