Unit price perLe 2020 affiche une robe rubis profond aux reflets violacés. Le nez est d'une complexité immédiate : cassis et mûre mûrs, violette, olive noire, encens, effluve fumé discret — puis, avec l'aération, le cuir fin, le tabac blond et la réglisse s'imposent. 2020 est un millésime de concentration dans la vallée du Rhône, et la bouche le confirme : matière dense, construite, mais tenue par une trame acide qui apporte fraîcheur et netteté. Les tanins sont fins, presque patinés, la finale longue et saline. Un Crozes au sommet de lui-même, à garder encore ou à ouvrir sur grand plat avec au moins une heure de carafe.
Côte de bœuf, gigot d'agneau en croûte d'herbes, risotto aux cèpes. Servir à 17-18°C, carafer impérativement. Potentiel de garde : 10 à 15 ans. Wine Spectator 93.

Unit price perThe colour is deep ruby with violet glints. The nose is built around blackcurrant and blackberry, lifted by black olive, violet and a subtle smoky touch characteristic of the granite and pebbles of La Guiraude. On the palate, freshness dominates the overall impression: the texture is elegant, the tannins silky, the acid backbone lively and taut. Where the 2020 calls for an hour in a decanter and a substantial dish, the 2022 opens up more readily, without losing any of its capacity to age. Long, saline, spicy finish.
Roast lamb with herbes de Provence, guinea fowl with wild mushrooms, pressed-curd cheeses. Serve at 16-17°C. Ageing potential: 10 to 15 years. James Suckling 95.

The cuvées of Domaine Alain Graillot
Red Crozes-Hermitage
The estate's emblematic cuvée. 100% Syrah, hand-harvested, 100% whole bunches. Fermented in stainless steel vats with indigenous yeasts, then aged for 12 months in Burgundian oak barrels that are 1 to 3 years old. Crunchy black fruit, gentle spice, pepper and a silky tannic structure. Drink within 5 to 10 years, or leave it to age in the cellar.
White Crozes-Hermitage
A blend of Marsanne (80%) and Roussanne (20%) grown on alluvial soils. Aged in demi-muids and stainless steel, without malolactic fermentation, to preserve tension and freshness. A floral bouquet, notes of pear and flint, and a crystalline, saline palate.
La Guiraude
The estate's prestige cuvée, made from a selection of the finest barrels in the cellar. It is produced in tiny quantities, from 1,000 to 10,000 bottles depending on the vintage. Exceptional depth, length and minerality. Regularly cited among the finest Crozes-Hermitage wines in the world by Bettane+Desseauve (94/100 RVF), James Suckling and Wine Spectator. An essential wine for ageing.
Red Saint-Joseph
Small plots on granite soils on the other side of the Rhône. A fresher, lighter Syrah than the Crozes, with notes of red fruit and pepper and a lively finish. Drink within 5 to 10 years.
History and legacy
Founded in 1985 by Alain Graillot, a former ski champion turned winegrower, the estate revealed the little-known potential of Crozes-Hermitage to the whole of France. Trained in Burgundian rigour alongside Jacques Seysses at Domaine Dujac, Alain brought a precise philosophy to the Chassis plain: low yields, hand harvesting and inputs kept to a strict minimum. His sons Maxime and Antoine have run the estate since 2008. Alain Graillot passed away in 2022, leaving a legacy that is recognised as one of the greatest success stories of the Northern Rhône.
Terroir: the Chassis plain
The estate covers 20 hectares around Pont-de-l'Isère, on the alluvial plain of pebbles and gravel at La Roche-de-Glun. The best terroirs, Les Chassis and Les Sept Chemins, give the Syrah remarkable structure. Despite being flat, the free-draining soils allow slow, balanced ripening.
Viticulture
Organic farming, deliberately limited yields (30-35 hl/ha), short pruning and ploughing to preserve the life of the soil. Harvesting is done exclusively by hand. The estate's wines are sold on allocation: demand has outstripped supply for several vintages.
