Côte de Beaune
Located in the heart of the village of Meursault, Domaine Michel Bouzereau spans 10.5 hectares, spread across exceptional appellations of the Côte de Beaune. The vineyards cover some of Burgundy's most emblematic terroirs: Meursault (Les Tessons, Le Limozin, Les Grands Charrons), Meursault Premier Cru (Perrières, Genevrières, Charmes, Blagny), Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru (Les Champs Gains, Le Cailleret), as well as Volnay, Pommard, and Beaune for reds. These plots benefit from rich clay-limestone soils and ideal exposures, conducive to the purest expression of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
Chardonnay for the whites – Pinot Noir for the reds
The Bouzereau family has been established in Meursault for seven generations. The estate, founded by Michel Bouzereau's ancestors, has gradually expanded thanks to the patient work of acquiring and developing the terroirs. Michel, a worthy heir, has developed the vineyard while preserving the authenticity of the family style. In 1999, his son Jean-Baptiste, after rigorous training and years of apprenticeship alongside his father, took over the reins of the estate. Together, they have acquired prestigious new parcels and modernized the production facilities, notably by building a new winery in 2008, located on Rue Robert Thénard in Meursault. Their philosophy rests on a clear maxim: "Great wine is born from great grapes." This approach guides all their work.
The estate practices sustainable viticulture, without certification, but with a strong commitment to ecological principles. The soil is worked, and regular tilling encourages microbial life. Pruning is kept short, bud thinning is rigorous, and phytosanitary treatments are reduced to an absolute minimum. Constant presence in the vineyards allows for adjustments to each vineyard's needs. The harvest is 100% manual, with rigorous sorting in the vineyard.
For the white wines, pressing is slow and gentle. The must is lightly settled before being transferred to barrels. Alcoholic fermentation begins in the barrel, followed by malolactic fermentation. Aging on fine lees lasts a minimum of 12 months, sometimes until the following harvest, in oak barrels, the proportion of which varies depending on the cuvée. Bottling takes place between November and March, respecting the lunar cycles. For the red wines, destemming is total, followed by cold maceration. Fermentation is spontaneous, and aging lasts between 12 and 16 months.
The estate is unanimously praised by guides and critics: La Revue du Vin de France, Bettane+Desseauve, Bourgogne Aujourd'hui, and the Guide Hachette regularly award "coup de cœur" (favorites) to the Meursault Genevrières and Puligny-Montrachet Les Caillerets. Professionals highlight the consistency, precision, and aging potential of the wines, as well as their refined and elegant style.
The Michel Bouzereau signature is a wine that is both classic and vibrant, faithfully reflecting the terroir of each plot. The estate manages to reconcile mineral freshness, volume on the palate, and aromatic complexity, without excessive oak or extraction.
Taste the wines of Domaine Michel Bouzereau – deep, balanced vintages faithful to the great Burgundian tradition, to be discovered today or to be carefully stored in the cellar.
