Appellations and terroirs
Located across six prestigious villages in the Côte de Beaune (Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet, Saint-Aubin, Santenay, and Aloxe-Corton), the estate benefits from exceptional terroirs. The clay-limestone soils, the optimal exposure of the plots, and the average age of the vines (35 to 40 years) allow for a refined and authentic expression of Burgundy's unique terroirs. The vineyards include Meursault Charmes and Genevrières (Premier Cru), Corton Bressandes (Grand Cru), as well as several Village and Regional appellations.
Iconic grape varieties
Chardonnay for the whites (approximately 75% of production); Pinot noir for the reds, occasionally supplemented with Gamay for the Passetoutgrain cuvées.
Philosophy and History
Originating from two old winemaking families in Meursault and Chassagne-Montrachet, the estate was founded in 1970 by Hubert Bouzereau and Marie-France Gruère. In 2001, their daughters Marie-Laure and Marie-Anne officially joined them, giving rise to Domaine Hubert Bouzereau-Gruère & Filles. Today, managing 10 hectares, they represent the 8th generation, committed to traditional, rigorous, and elegant viticulture, with great attention paid to respecting the terroir and the quality of the grapes.
Production specifics
Vineyard work is a priority, with cultivation practices based on plowing, severe bud thinning in the spring, and integrated pest management. The harvest is done by hand over 9 to 10 days. The grapes are sorted and then pneumatically pressed (for white wines) or fully destemmed (for red wines). Winemaking is traditional: lees stirring until March for the whites, cold pre-fermentation maceration, and extended fermentation for the reds. The wines are aged for 12 to 18 months in oak barrels (20 to 25% new) in a family vaulted cellar, then bottled at the estate.
Recognitions
The estate's wines are regularly featured in the Hachette Wine Guide, Bettane & Desseauve, Bourgogne Aujourd'hui, and the Revue des Vins de France. Their elegance, aromatic purity, and balance are praised by French and international critics.
With its mosaic of climates, its demand for precision and its respect for family traditions, Domaine Hubert Bouzereau-Gruère & Filles embodies the excellence of great Burgundy wines, between depth and finesse.
