Burgundy – Côte de Beaune
Domaine Philippe Girard currently cultivates 22 hectares of vines, spread across 14 emblematic villages of Burgundy's wine region. These include Savigny-lès-Beaune, Pernand-Vergelesses, Aloxe-Corton, Saint-Aubin, Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet, Nuits-Saint-Georges, and Chambolle-Musigny. The terroirs are predominantly limestone and clay-limestone, lending the wines finesse, mineral tension, and balance. Each plot, carefully vinified separately, expresses a unique personality, directly linked to its geographical origin.
Pinot Noir (60%) – Chardonnay (40%)
Domaine Philippe Girard is a family estate established in Savigny-lès-Beaune since 1529. This ancestral know-how has been passed down from generation to generation. In 1943, Georges Girard took over the family business. In 1979, his son Philippe joined him to contribute to its development and officially founded Domaine Philippe Girard in 1998. Today, Arnaud, representing the new generation, ensures the continuity of this tradition, enriched by his experiences in France and abroad. A deep connection to the terroir and respect for tradition are the pillars of the estate, within a modern vision of precision viticulture.
Vineyard management relies on rigorous planning of the growing season. The estate is certified High Environmental Value (HVE) level 3, guaranteeing a strong commitment to the environment and biodiversity. The annual cycle begins with winter pruning (from November to February), followed by green work in the spring: bud removal, vine training, trimming, and green harvesting. During the summer, leaf removal is carried out if weather conditions require it. The harvest is exclusively manual to ensure optimal sorting in the vineyard. Winemaking remains traditional, with a constant focus on balance, precision, and fruit expression. The soils are regularly tilled to encourage deep root development, essential to the typicity of the wines.
Domaine Philippe Girard is a reliable producer in the Côte de Beaune, renowned for the consistency and typicity of its wines. The wines from Savigny-lès-Beaune are distinguished by their elegance, freshness, and silky texture. The white wines from the villages of Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet reveal a beautiful tension and excellent aging potential. These are complemented by the expressive and refined reds from Nuits-Saint-Georges and Chambolle-Musigny, which enrich the range. Connoisseurs praise the precision and authenticity of the estate's wines, which bear witness to a demanding and passionate approach to winemaking.
Located in a charming historic village, the estate proudly upholds a winemaking tradition spanning nearly five centuries. The diversity of the cultivated terroirs allows for a remarkable expression of Burgundy grape varieties, always guided by a commitment to respect, authenticity, and excellence. This consistent quality has established the estate as a leading reference point for discerning wine lovers.
