Unit price per"Orange wine is a macerated white wine. Although little known, this fourth wine color is ancient and dates back to antiquity: in Georgia, white grapes were already macerated in large buried terracotta jars. Revived in the early 2000s, this winemaking method offers a new tasting experience. Skin maceration, of varying duration, allows for the creation of wines with a unique aromatic profile!" - Catherine Delaunay

Far removed from the constraints of traditional appellations, the Vin de France category offers a unique space for expression to winemakers throughout France. It designates wines produced in France, but deliberately outside the specifications of AOC and IGP designations. This status allows for great freedom in blending, innovation, and style , while guaranteeing 100% French origin. A rapidly growing category, synonymous with diversity, accessibility, and often daring wines.
Created in 2009, the Vin de France appellation replaced the former “Vin de Table” designation. It allows winemakers to indicate the vintage and grape variety(ies), without specifying a precise geographical origin. This flexibility makes it possible, for example, to blend grape varieties from different regions , to cultivate rare or heritage varieties, or to vinify using alternative methods (maceration, amphorae, no added sulfur, etc.).
The result is an incredibly diverse range of wines: fruity or structured reds , fresh or exuberant whites , rosés of all intensities, naturally sparkling wines , and even wines made without additives or with extended aging. Vin de France also allows young winemakers to launch their careers creatively, without the sometimes burdensome constraints of appellations.
Wines labeled Vin de France are not synonymous with simplicity or low quality. On the contrary, many renowned estates (particularly organic or natural winemakers) deliberately choose this category to offer original, accessible, and perfectly crafted wines.
Whether enjoyed as an aperitif, at a picnic, to accompany everyday meals, or to surprise guests at a dinner party, the wines in this category shine with their immediate pleasure, their deliciousness, and their excellent value . Some carefully crafted wines also offer great aging potential and complexity.
At Les Vins de Carole, we showcase carefully selected French wines that express the personality of their creators. Whether from bold young winemakers or established estates, these wines are chosen for their authenticity, originality, and ability to deliver unpretentious pleasure. A perfect collection to broaden your horizons and discover another facet of French winemaking.
