Unit price perProvence, the oldest wine-growing region in France, is world-renowned for its exceptional rosé wines , but it also produces superb reds and whites. Thanks to an ideal Mediterranean climate, diverse grape varieties, and time-honored winemaking traditions, Provençal wines express freshness, fruitiness, and elegance. Whether it's Côtes de Provence, Bandol, or Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence, each appellation reveals its own distinct identity.
The vineyards of Provence stretch across more than 26,000 hectares, from the Var to the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, including the Bouches-du-Rhône. This region benefits from over 2,800 hours of sunshine per year, varied soils (limestone, schist, sandstone), and a purifying wind: the mistral. All these elements contribute to healthy viticulture and wines of great purity.
Rosé wines , which account for over 85% of production, are made from grape varieties such as Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Tibouren. The reds are often deep and structured, ideal for aging, particularly in Bandol. The whites , produced in smaller quantities, are fresh, floral, and made from Rolle (Vermentino), Ugni Blanc, or Clairette grapes.
Provence rosés are captivating with their pale color and aromas of citrus, fresh red berries, flowers, and aromatic herbs. They are perfect as an aperitif, with a Niçoise salad, salmon tartare, grilled meats, or exotic cuisine. The reds pair well with Mediterranean dishes such as herb-crusted lamb, ratatouille, or a Provençal beef stew. The whites beautifully complement grilled fish, seafood, or fresh cheeses.
Among the leading appellations are: Côtes de Provence (and its sub-zones such as Sainte-Victoire or La Londe), Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence , Coteaux Varois , and the prestigious Bandol , renowned for its age-worthy reds and gastronomic rosés.
At Les Vins de Carole, we select wines from the finest terroirs of Provence. Whether you're looking for fresh and fruity rosés for summer, structured reds to age, or expressive whites for your summer meals, our range showcases the diversity and quality of this great wine region. Our partner winemakers, often committed to organic or sustainable farming practices, work with respect for the terroir to offer you the very best of Provence, in your glass.
