Domaine Thibert Père et Fils – Purity and elegance of the Mâconnais terroirs

Thibert Father and Son Estate
Wine region
Mâconnais, Southern Burgundy
Appellations and terroirs
Located in the heart of the village of Fuissé, Domaine Thibert Père et Fils offers a rare diversity of emblematic appellations from Southern Burgundy. They vinify all the crus of the Mâconnais: Saint-Véran, Pouilly-Fuissé, Pouilly-Loché, Pouilly-Vinzelles, as well as the Mâcon Villages of Fuissé, Prissé, and Verzé. The varied soils—limestone, marl, and clay-limestone—allow for a refined expression of each terroir. Through a dozen single-vineyard cuvées, including four from Pouilly-Fuissé, the estate highlights unique microclimates and subsoils that brilliantly reveal the minerality and complexity of Chardonnay.

Philosophy and History
Since 1967, when Andrée and René Thibert began with a modest plot of land, the estate's history has been inextricably linked to that of a family of winemakers rooted in Fuissé for generations. In 1991, their son Christophe returned to the estate, joined by his sister Sandrine in 1999. Together, they represent the eighth generation of winemakers, blending tradition, family values, and modern techniques. The estate is founded on the conviction that "a vineyard can only reach its full potential over time." This philosophy is expressed through a deep respect for the soil, a rigorous transmission of knowledge, and a commitment to autonomy in every technical and agronomic decision.
Production specifics
The estate cultivates exclusively fruit from its own vines. This independence guarantees complete control over the entire production process. The vines are managed using integrated viticulture practices, in a spirit of freedom and responsibility. There are no systematic treatments: each intervention is carefully considered according to the vintage and the specific needs of the vine.
Christophe Thibert meticulously oversees every stage of production, from pruning to aging. The grapes are harvested by hand. The Chardonnay vinification follows a painstaking protocol designed to preserve the purity of the fruit: gentle pressing, fermentation in barrels or temperature-controlled tanks, stirring on fine lees, and extended aging without excessive oak influence. The goal is to produce stable, precise wines with a fine structure and excellent aging potential.
Recognitions
Domaine Thibert is now considered a leading name in the Mâconnais region. Its single-vineyard wines, particularly those from Pouilly-Fuissé, are prized for their precision and depth. They are regularly featured in specialist guides and praised by critics for their elegance, aging potential, and perfect pairing with fine cuisine. Wine lovers will recognize a clear signature: the purity of Chardonnay, mineral freshness, and aromatic harmony.
Consistent quality and meticulous cellar work have allowed the estate to elevate its wines to among the finest whites of Southern Burgundy. With each vintage, Christophe and Sandrine Thibert reveal a little more of the richness of their terroirs and the refinement of their stylistic vision.
