Viognier is Catherine Delaunay's favourite grape, and Languedoc-Roussillon suits it particularly well: on the clay-limestone soils of the IGP Pays d'Oc, cool nights preserve the floral, fruity aromatic signature of this great white Rhône grape. Les Jamelles ferments it at low temperature to lock in the aromas, with careful winemaking that puts the expression of the grape above all else. The 2024 vintage (13% ABV) shows lovely aromatic generosity. The colour is golden yellow with bright highlights. The nose is instantly seductive: ripe apricot, acacia blossom and vine peach, with an exotic hint in the background. On the palate, the texture is rich and enveloping, carried by a discreet acidity that keeps it fresh, and the finish lingers on white flowers. Magnificent with poultry and apricots, a chicken tagine or fragrant Asian cuisine. Serve at 10-12 °C; enjoy it young to make the most of its aromas.
