This village appellation, which also includes Premier Cru vineyards , perfectly embodies the Burgundian style: finesse, precision, and expression of the terroir. Highly prized for their excellent value, Givry wines appeal to both casual wine lovers and connoisseurs.
Givry boasts a long winemaking history. Already appreciated in the Middle Ages and praised by Henry IV, Givry wines are among the oldest and most renowned in the region. The appellation covers approximately 280 hectares for reds and 40 hectares for whites, spread across the communes of Givry, Dracy-le-Fort, and Jambles. The continental climate and clay-limestone soils bring balance, freshness, and typicity to the wines.
Givry red wines are made exclusively from Pinot Noir . Their color is generally a brilliant ruby, and the nose opens with aromas of cherry, raspberry, sometimes peony or sweet spices. On the palate, they are supple and silky, with fine tannins and a harmonious structure. Certain vineyard sites, particularly Premier Cru, produce deeper wines, capable of aging for 5 to 10 years.
The white wines of Givry, made from Chardonnay , are less well-known but remarkably refined. They offer aromas of white flowers, citrus, white-fleshed fruit, and sometimes a subtle buttery note. On the palate, they are lively, mineral, and possess a beautiful length. They are an excellent alternative to the great white wines of the Côte de Beaune.
Red wines pair perfectly with grilled meat, roast pork, free-range poultry, or mild cheeses. They complement both traditional and more modern cuisine. White wines, on the other hand, are wonderful with grilled fish, seafood, vegetable risotto, or goat cheeses.
Les Vins de Carole has selected for you a range representative of the best terroirs of Givry. You'll find approachable, fruit-forward wines, as well as more ambitious bottles destined for aging. Whether you're a Pinot Noir enthusiast or curious about Burgundian Chardonnay , our selection guarantees authentic, expressive wines that reflect their origin.
