Corbières: an emblematic terroir of Languedoc

Located in the Languedoc region, the Corbières appellation is one of the largest and most representative of the area. It encompasses a wide variety of terroirs, offering a broad range of red, white, and rosé wines. This appellation, steeped in history, is characterized by a warm Mediterranean climate and diverse soils, ideal for cultivating grape varieties typical of Southern France.

A diverse terroir and varied soils

The Corbières vineyards cover more than 13,000 hectares, encompassing steep slopes, alluvial plains, limestone plateaus, and schistous areas. This geological diversity allows for the production of rich and complex wines, perfectly reflecting the Mediterranean character of the appellation. The Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers and mild winters, promotes optimal grape ripening.

Grape varieties and wine styles

The red wines of Corbières are primarily made from Grenache , Syrah , Mourvèdre , and Carignan grapes. They are characterized by intense aromas of red fruit, spices, and sometimes garrigue (Mediterranean scrubland), with a beautiful tannic structure. The white wines, less common, are made from grape varieties such as Vermentino , Grenache Blanc , and Roussanne , offering freshness and vibrancy. The rosés, meanwhile, are fruity and light.

Food and wine pairings and conviviality

Corbières red wines pair perfectly with Mediterranean dishes: grilled meats, ratatouille, spicy dishes, and aged cheeses. The white wines are ideal with fish, seafood, composed salads, and light meals. The rosé wines are perfect as an aperitif or to accompany summer meals.
