Floral wines: elegance, freshness and aromatic delicacy
Floral wines are distinguished by their expressive and delicate nose , marked by aromas of white flowers (acacia, hawthorn), roses, peonies, violets, or jasmine. This aromatic profile brings a sensation of freshness and refinement much appreciated by enthusiasts seeking subtle wines. Floral white wines: purity and freshness
Floral white wines often come from grape varieties such as Muscat , Gewurztraminer , Viognier , Sauvignon Blanc , or Riesling . They offer lovely tension, aromas of white flowers, sometimes exotic, and a fresh finish.
- Gewurztraminer (Alsace) – rose, lychee, oriental flowers
- Viognier (Rhône, Languedoc) – violet, apricot, acacia blossom
- Sauvignon Blanc (Loire, New Zealand) – elderberry, lemongrass, bright floral notes
Perfect as an aperitif, with sushi, grilled fish or fragrant vegetarian dishes.
Floral rosés and reds: finesse and charm
Some rosé or light red wines also offer distinctive floral aromas. Think of wines made from Gamay , Pinot Noir , or Grenache :
