Wine to cellar: an investment in time and pleasure

Some wines don't reveal their full potential in their youth. They require time, patience, and proper storage to unveil their full complexity. At Les Vins de Carole, we offer a selection of wines meant for aging, chosen for their ability to develop beautifully in the cellar, gaining depth and offering an unforgettable tasting experience years later.

Wines built to last

Great red wines made from powerful grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Mourvèdre, or Malbec, as well as certain Pinot Noirs, naturally possess aging potential. Similarly, some dry white wines (Chenin Blanc, Riesling, and Chardonnay meant for aging) and sweet wines exhibit a remarkable ability to develop complex notes of candied fruit, beeswax, truffle, or sweet spices.

Regions in the spotlight

Among the leading appellations for aging are Pauillac, Saint-Estèphe, Pomerol, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Hermitage, Cornas, Côte-Rôtie, Vosne-Romanée, Meursault, Vouvray, Savennières, and the great Sauternes. These exceptional terroirs, combined with rigorous winemaking expertise, allow for the production of wines whose structure, acidity, and concentration ensure harmonious aging.

How can you tell if a wine is suitable for aging?

A wine meant for aging is often dense and tannic in its youth, with well-integrated acidity, ripe fruit, and a balanced structure. It may seem closed at first, but develops a fascinating array of aromas over the years. Vintages like 2010, 2015, 2016, and 2018 are particularly well-suited for cellaring.

For what occasions?

Wines meant for aging are ideal for celebrating a milestone birthday, wedding, or birth (the bottle can be opened several years later). They can also enrich your personal cellar, offering you the pleasure of following the evolution of a vintage over time. Giving a wine meant for aging is also giving the gift of a truly exceptional moment to come.

Our "Wine to keep in the cellar" selection brings together promising vintages, preserved in optimal conditions, ready to join your cellar for a few years, or several decades for the greatest.
