Which wines can be kept for more than 15 years?

Keeping a wine for more than 15 years is a testament to excellence and patience. Only certain grand cru wines, crafted under optimal conditions, from noble terroirs and age-worthy grape varieties, are capable of aging gracefully through the decades. Les Vins de Carole offers a selection of exceptionally age-worthy wines , designed to mature slowly and reveal aromas of unparalleled complexity.

Exceptional reds: power, balance and nobility

Red wines capable of aging for 15 years or more possess an imposing tannic structure, a long maturation period, and an exceptional capacity for evolution. Over time, their primary and secondary aromas give way to a captivating tertiary palette: leather, blond tobacco, truffle, undergrowth, fig, cocoa… Emblematic examples:

  • Château Latour, Margaux, Mouton-Rothschild (Bordeaux Grands Crus Classés)
  • Hermitage or Côte-Rôtie from major wineries (Chave, Guigal…)
  • Barolo Riserva , Brunello Riserva (Italy)
  • Priorat or Vega Sicilia Unico (Spain)

These wines demand dishes of equal quality: game, matured meats, truffles, powerful cheeses or tasting them on their own, for pure emotion.

Great white wines with long aging potential

A few exceptional dry or sweet white wines lend themselves to aging for 15 to 30 years, or even longer. They develop spectacular richness, smoothness, and complexity. Recommended:

  • Montrachet Grand Cru , Corton-Charlemagne
  • Vouvray moelleux or very old liqueur
  • Riesling SGN or Late Harvest
  • Vin Jaune from the Jura, with legendary aging potential

They are best enjoyed with gourmet cuisine: pan-fried foie gras, truffled poultry, blue cheeses, or simply on their own, for deep meditation.

Legendary vintage and sweet champagnes

High-end vintage Champagnes (Dom Pérignon, Cristal, etc.) can age beautifully for over 15 years, gaining in complexity, finer bubbles, and minerality. Very old Sauternes or Tokaji wines develop aromas of beeswax, candied apricot, caramel, saffron, and more.

Tips for exceptionally long storage

Impeccable storage: constant temperature between 10-13°C, appropriate humidity, bottles stored horizontally away from light. Open several hours in advance; gentle decanting is recommended. These wines deserve a slow, respectful tasting to fully appreciate their magic.

Our "Over 15 Years" Collection

At Les Vins de Carole, we have assembled a rare selection of wines capable of aging majestically. An invitation to build an exceptional cellar and experience unforgettable oenological moments.
