Located in Burgundy, in the heart of the Côte de Nuits , the Vougeot appellation is inextricably linked to its emblem: the renowned Clos de Vougeot , one of the most iconic Grands Crus in the French wine region. The Vougeot AOC, recognized since 1936, primarily produces red wines from Pinot Noir, but also rare white wines made from Chardonnay, on terroirs steeped in history.

A walled terroir steeped in history

The village of Vougeot has only about 67 hectares of vineyards, nearly 50 of which belong to the Clos de Vougeot , enclosed by walls since the 12th century. Created by the Cistercian monks of Cîteaux Abbey, this unique walled vineyard is now divided among more than 80 owners. It exemplifies the diversity of Burgundy's micro-parcels and the complexity of the Burgundy terroir.

The red wines made from Pinot Noir express aromas of black fruit, cherry, and undergrowth, with a beautiful tannic structure and assertive elegance. The white wines , produced in limited quantities, reveal floral and mineral notes, with a fresh and precise palate. The diversity of the soils (clay-limestone, marl, gravel) and the moderate altitude contribute to a balance between power and finesse.
