Mineral wines: purity, tension and expression of the terroir

Mineral wines are prized for their remarkable freshness, aromatic precision, and ability to faithfully reflect their terroir. They are distinguished by subtle notes of flint, chalk, oyster shell, or salinity . These characteristics are often associated with limestone, schist, or volcanic soils. The "Mineral" collection from Vins de Carole invites you to a refined, elegant, and complex tasting experience.

Mineral whites: tension and finesse

Mineral white wines come from grape varieties such as Chardonnay , Sauvignon Blanc , Riesling , or Chenin Blanc . They express great structure and a saline finish, ideal for pairing with seafood.

  • Chablis – Chardonnay on Kimmeridgian soils, with notes of chalk and lemon
  • Sancerre – Sauvignon grown on flint, with vibrant tension and smoky nuances
  • German or Alsatian Riesling – refined minerality, crystalline length
  • Chenin from Montlouis or Saumur – salinity, finesse, length

Serve with oysters, raw fish, carpaccio, pressed cheeses.

Mineral reds and rosés: structure and subtlety

Some red wines from volcanic or limestone terroirs also express a beautiful minerality. Pinot Noir , Cabernet Franc , and Grenache are the most suited to revealing this character.

  • Pinot Noir from Burgundy – finesse, earthy and undergrowth aromas
  • Saumur-Champigny – Cabernet Franc, mineral, floral and tender
  • Volcanic slenders of Etna Rosso – Nerello Mascalese on basaltic ash

Pair with local cuisine, white meats or grilled fish.

Straightforward, vibrant and elegant wines

Lovers of precise, dry, and elegant wines favor cuvées with a strong mineral expression . This profile is ideal for blind tastings , highlighting the impact of the soil on the wine. Serve them at 10-12°C for whites, and 14-16°C for light reds.

Our "Mineral wines" selection

Les Vins de Carole offers a selection of exceptionally fine, mineral-driven wines, chosen for their ability to enhance the terroir and their purity of expression. For lovers of precision and elegance.
