Sauvignon Blanc is one of the world's most popular white grape varieties, known for its freshness, aromatic intensity, and versatility. From the Loire Valley to New Zealand, it thrives in diverse climates, producing dry, crisp, and always highly expressive wines. Perfect for lovers of clean, floral, and fruity white wines, it captivates with its elegance and natural vibrancy.
Sauvignon Blanc originated in southwestern France, where it found its greatest expressions in the Loire Valley (Sancerre, Pouilly-Fumé, Quincy) and Bordeaux (Graves, Entre-Deux-Mers, Pessac-Léognan). There, it is often blended with Sémillon and Muscadelle, but also shines as a single varietal. Today, it is widely cultivated in regions such as New Zealand (Marlborough), Chile , and Africa.
Aromatic profile and wine styles
Sauvignon Blanc is characterized by a very expressive nose, blending citrus fruits (lemon, grapefruit), exotic fruits (passion fruit, guava), fresh herbs, boxwood, blackcurrant bud, and even stony or smoky notes in some cuvées (particularly in Pouilly-Fumé). On the palate, it is lively, dry, and crisp, with a beautiful acidic tension and a fresh finish. It can be vinified exclusively in stainless steel tanks to preserve its fruit, or in barrels for more structured versions. Some cuvées...
This vibrant white grape variety pairs perfectly with oysters, seafood, raw or grilled fish, shellfish, goat cheese, fresh herb salads, and lemony vegetarian or Asian dishes. Richer, more aged wines also complement fine fish in sauce, poultry, and even certain truffle dishes. As an aperitif, its refreshing vivacity always makes a splash.
At Les Vins de Carole, you'll find a carefully curated selection of Sauvignon Blanc from all over the world: crisp, mineral-driven wines from the Loire Valley, aromatic whites from the New World, and subtle Bordeaux blends. An essential grape variety for any lover of elegant, vibrant, and versatile white wine.
