Côtes du Rhône: the diversity and richness of a great appellation

The Côtes du Rhône appellation covers a vast wine-growing region stretching from Vienne to Avignon, encompassing a wide variety of terroirs and wine styles. This appellation offers a broad range of red, white, and rosé wines, renowned for their approachability, fruitiness, and balance. The diversity of the soils and the Mediterranean climate allows for the expression of a wide variety of grape varieties and cuvées.

A vast and varied terroir

The Côtes du Rhône region encompasses areas with highly diverse terroirs, ranging from alluvial soils to clay-limestone and granite hillsides. This geological richness allows for the production of rich and balanced wines, suitable for a wide range of palates and food pairings. The region benefits from a Mediterranean climate, with hot summers and mild winters, promoting optimal grape ripening.

Grape varieties and wine styles

The red wines of the Côtes du Rhône are primarily made from Grenache , Syrah , and Mourvèdre grapes . They offer aromas of red and black fruit, spices, and sometimes notes of garrigue (Mediterranean scrubland). The white wines, though less numerous, are made from grape varieties such as Viognier , Grenache Blanc , and Roussanne , offering varied and fresh aromatic profiles. The rosé wines are light and fruity.

Food and wine pairings with Côtes du Rhône wines

Red wines pair well with grilled meats, dishes with sauces, aged cheeses, and Mediterranean cuisine. White wines complement fish, seafood, poultry, and spicy dishes. Rosé wines are perfect as an aperitif and for summer meals.
