Which wines should I choose to drink during the year?

Some wines are crafted to be enjoyed in their youth. Freshness, fruitiness, and approachability are the hallmarks of this category. They don't require extended aging and can be enjoyed as soon as they are released, within a year or two. At Les Vins de Carole, we offer a vibrant and appealing selection of wines to drink within the year , perfect for immediate enjoyment.

Smooth and fruity reds for quick consumption

Red wines meant to be drunk young have smooth tannins and a lovely fruity expression. They are approachable, convivial wines, ideal for everyday meals or gatherings with friends. Examples include:

  • A Beaujolais-Villages or a light Gamay with aromas of crisp red fruits
  • A supple and fragrant Pinot Noir from the Loire or Alsace regions
  • A Côtes-du-Rhône red or a Ventoux with a generous palate and no excessive oak.

These wines pair well with simple dishes: grilled meats, cold cuts, roast poultry, mixed salads, savory tarts…

Fresh and floral white wines, perfect for an aperitif.

White wines meant to be drunk young are generally made without prolonged aging, to preserve their vibrancy. Examples include:

  • A Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire Valley or the Southwest, crisp and lemony
  • A Vermentino or a Picpoul de Pinet , ideal for seafood
  • An unoaked Chardonnay , with notes of green apple and white flowers

They can be enjoyed as an aperitif, with grilled fish, fresh cheeses or light dishes.

Rosé wines to be enjoyed in their youth

Rosé wines, and particularly those from Provence, Languedoc, or the Rhône Valley, are designed to be drunk young. Fresh, fruity, and thirst-quenching, they are the perfect companions for summer meals, barbecues, salads, and aperitifs with friends.

And the bubbles?

Some sparkling wines such as Crémants or Pet'Nat' (natural sparkling wines) should also be drunk within the year, to enjoy their freshness and primary aromas.

Service tips

White and rosé wines are best served between 8 and 10°C, while young reds are best served around 14°C. Wines meant to be drunk young do not require decanting, but a brief decanting can enhance their bouquet. Store them away from heat and light to preserve their quality.
