Maison Edouard Delaunay
Burgundy – Côte de Nuits
Located in Nuits-Saint-Georges, in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, Maison Edouard Delaunay's influence extends across the great terroirs of the Côte d'Or and the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits. It produces wines from prestigious appellations such as Gevrey-Chambertin, Vosne-Romanée, Pommard, Meursault, and Puligny-Montrachet. The predominantly clay-limestone soils offer a remarkable diversity of nuances, lending the wines depth, finesse, and complexity. The Hautes-Côtes de Nuits, the estate's historic terroir, are distinguished by their freshness and remarkable balance.
Pinot Noir (reds), Chardonnay (whites)
Founded in 1893, Maison Edouard Delaunay played a key role in the international renown of Burgundy wines during the 20th century. After a period of hiatus, Laurent Delaunay – the founder's great-grandson – relaunched the house in 2017 with an uncompromising commitment to quality. With a precise and contemporary vision, he has breathed new life into this family business, highlighting the pure expression of the terroirs and the elegance of Burgundy's great wines. Today, the house combines tradition, innovation, and excellence.
The grapes are harvested by hand at perfect ripeness, with rigorous sorting both in the vineyard and at the winery. Vinification is carried out plot by plot in temperature-controlled tanks to best respect the unique character of each terroir. Aging, meticulously controlled, takes place in French oak barrels, a proportion of which are new, for 12 to 18 months depending on the vintage. Yields are deliberately kept low to preserve the concentration and balance of the wines.
Since its revival, Maison Edouard Delaunay has garnered international acclaim, featured in guides such as Bettane+Desseauve, Revue du Vin de France, Wine Spectator, Decanter, and James Suckling. Several vintages have earned gold medals and scores exceeding 90/100, highlighting the excellence of their craftsmanship. Furthermore, Laurent Delaunay has been named "Best Winemaker of the Year" four times by the International Wine Challenge, one of the most demanding competitions, a testament to the House's outstanding work.
At the crossroads of heritage and modernity, Maison Edouard Delaunay embodies one of the finest successes of the Burgundy renaissance. It caters to discerning wine lovers seeking precise, profound, and luminous wines that faithfully reflect their origin.
