Domain name

Domaine Soleyrade

Wine region

Southern Rhône Valley

Appellations and terroirs

Located in Sérignan-du-Comtat, in the Vaucluse region, Domaine Soleyrade enjoys a strategic location in the heart of the Southern Rhône Valley, just a few kilometers from the renowned Châteauneuf-du-Pape vineyards. The estate covers 15 hectares of vines cultivated organically. The vineyard rests on two main soil types: a clay-limestone soil, grassed every other row, and a clay-gravel soil known as "sandstone," covered with small, rounded pebbles. These pebbles absorb the day's heat and release it at night, thus promoting optimal grape ripeness. The entire estate is situated at an altitude of approximately 110 meters, with an ideal exposure where the sunshine and the influence of the Mistral wind ensure natural aromatic concentration and a beautiful freshness in the berries.

Emblematic grape varieties

Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre (red and rosé) – Clairette, Viognier (in small proportions for rosé)

Philosophy and History

Domaine Soleyrade is a family estate passed down through four generations. While its roots in the land are long-standing, its official establishment in its current form dates back to 1986, when Marie-Christine Andrieu and Pascal Valadier took over 6 hectares of vineyards under a lease in Sérignan-du-Comtat. Driven by a commitment to excellence and respect for nature, they gradually expanded the vineyard to its current size of 15 hectares. Early on, they made the courageous choice of organic farming, convinced that the quality of wine depends first and foremost on the health of the soil and the integrity of the grapes. The estate is now certified organic by Ecocert.

This quest for quality also pushes them to invest in two other properties: Domaine Valand and Domaine Le Renard, also run in organic farming, demonstrating a comprehensive and committed approach to sustainable viticulture.

Production specifics

At Domaine Soleyrade, every stage of production is carefully considered with respect for the environment and the terroir. The vineyard is worked meticulously by hand, with controlled cover cropping, short pruning, and continuous monitoring of the grapes' health. The organic vineyard management relies on natural and preventative treatments (sulfur, copper, plant decoctions), without herbicides or synthetic products. The moderate altitude and the natural ventilation of the Mistral wind allow for excellent aromatic concentration while preserving the acid balance.

The harvest is done by hand or machine depending on the plot, with selective sorting of the grapes upon arrival. The reds, primarily made from Grenache and Syrah, are vinified using traditional methods, with long, controlled macerations to extract color, supple tannins, and aromatic richness. Aging takes place in concrete or stainless steel tanks, sometimes in large oak casks or demi-muids for the most ambitious cuvées, without excessive oak influence, in order to preserve the fruit and freshness. The rosés are obtained by direct pressing or saignée (bleeding), with fermentation at low temperatures to retain the floral and luscious expression of the fruit.
